Persian Pop-up: Iran Through Stories-A Storytelling Event for the Iranian Community

April 6 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Tell Your Story at Our “Iran Through Stories” Event

If you have a personal story about life in Iran or as an Iranian that you’d like to share, we invite you to be part of our Iran Through Stories storytelling event, a community storytelling event where Iranian voices come together to share experiences, memories, and reflections. Whether it’s a cherished childhood memory, a life-changing event, or simply a glimpse into everyday life, we want to hear your story!

Six of the submissions will be selected to receive $250 honorariums.

Submission Guidelines

  • Story Theme: Your story should reflect some aspect of Iranian life, in Iran or in the US—whether it’s family traditions, historical moments, or personal milestones.
  • Length Five minutes or less.
  • Language: You can share your story in either Farsi or English, whichever you prefer. If you tell your story in Farsi, we will provide a translator.
  • Tone: Your story can be joyful, reflective, funny, or serious—whatever feels true to your experience.
  • Format: You will tell your story in front of live audience at our Iran Through Stories event, April 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Baroque Room. , 275 4th St E,. #280, St. Paul.

How to Submit

Tell us about your story by going to the Twin Cities iranian Culture Collective Facebook page and leaving a short (1-2 minutes) audio message. Just click on the blue Message button and press the little microphone icon to start recording. You can delete and re-record as often as you want. Be sure to include your name and contact info.

If you prefer, you can send a written version (250 words or less) to Yassi Petersen at Yassi.Petersen@outlook.com. Or you can do both. If you have questions, or want some help developing your story idea, email yassi.petersen@outlook.com.

You may submit more than one story, but only one will be selected from each participant.

Deadline for Submission: March 20.

After reviewing submissions, selected participants will be invited to present their stories live at the event, which will take place on April 6. If your story is selected you must attend the event on April 6 in person to tell your story and receive $250!

Even if your story is not selected, or if you come up with that great story idea after the deadline, there will be an opportunity, if time permits, for you to tell your story during the “open mic” part of the evening.

Why Participate?

  • Share your unique perspective and help preserve the rich cultural tapestry of Iranian life.
  • Connect with fellow community members through the power of storytelling.
  • Celebrate our collective and diverse experiences of Iran.

Don’t miss the chance to share your voice and be part of an event that brings our community together in a meaningful way. We look forward to hearing your stories!
