Take a free one-hour tour of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts’ unique collection of Persian and Persianate art, led by MIA guide Nahid Khan.. Most of the works in the Gallery of the Islamic World come from the Persian world, including book arts, ceramic arts and contemporary works, and Nahid will talk about a few of them, as well as some textiles from Uzbekistan that are hanging nearby. She will also take you through the Ancient Art gallery, where you’ll learn about three of the pre-Islamic Persian works on display, and make a stop at the Fountain Court next to the Rotunda to view contemporary American artist Frank Stella’s Takht-i-Sulayman version II (1969).
